Experiments in (in)authenticity

As a film studies graduate a key concept which was deeply embedded in me was the notion of authenticity in relation to audio-visual culture. Is lens-based media successful in producing realism, or is the fact that it reproduces reality mean that it is always inauthentic because of its mediated conditions? This point of inquiry prompted a series of experiments where editing within each of the videos becomes extremely pronounced as a piece of meta-commentary designed to reflect the inherently inauthentic nature of all audio-visual media.
